The Golf Course

The Archerfield Estate |
SCOTLAND'S FIRST AIRVAC VACUUM SEWAGE SCHEME
Archerfield is located east of Edinburgh on the southern bank of the Firth of Forth in beautiful, forested coastal surroundings. In the company of renowned international golf courses close by, Archerfield is a new multi-million pound International Open standard golf course with the extensive facilities one would normally associate with such a development. In addition, the development includes 100 large houses and 48 Golf 'cottages' for rent all set around two golf courses each with 7000yard links.
Vacuum sewerage was chosen for the site due to the reduced excavation depths inherent in the system, Archerfield is characterised by shallow bedrock and high, perched water tables.
The project area is being served with one vacuum collection station and 50 Airvac 3" Vacuum Sewage Interface Valve chambers. The Vacuum station is designed for a total flow of 20l/s. This development along with all new Airvac Vacuum Sewerage schemes in the UK will benefit from Flowvac Environmental's patented above-ground controller system bringing improvements in reliability and ease of maintenance.
Archerfield derives its name from a time in 1298 when the archers of Edward 1st's army camped on the land. During WWII Winston Churchill had secret talks with President Franklin Roosevelt at Archerfield House. Archerfield House dates back to 1747 and is being restored and converted to its original state at a cost of £2.5million. The planning approval is subject to the successful refurbishment of Archerfield house, the work is being closely supervised by Scottish Heritage. |
