Information About
THE AIRVAC VACUUM INTERFACE VALVE

As its name suggests, the Airvac Vacuum Sewage Interface Valve is the interface between sewage from a conventional drainage system at atmospheric pressure and the Airvac Vacuum Sewerage System typically operating between 15" and 21" of Mercury (0.5 and 0.7 Bar) Vacuum pressure. At rest the valve gate is held closed by a combination of mechanical spring force and vacuum pressure, pressure which is generated at the vacuum sewage collection station, stored in the sewage collection vessel and transferred throughout the vacuum system in the vacuum sewerage main pipework. The Vacuum Interface Valve is controlled entirely pneumatically and without the need for an electrical power supply to the vacuum interface valve chamber. As the liquid level within the sewage collection chamber rises a sensor pipe is submerged and pressure Vacuum Sewerage Sewage Specialistsbuilds within the pipe, this rising pressure actuates a diaphragm switch which in turn allows vacuum pressure to the the top of the valve piston pulling the valve open for a pnematically controlled period of time. The Vacuum Interface Valve then remains open for around 6 seconds which is enough time to clear the 50 litre sewage collection sump of sewage and bring air at atmospheric pressure into the vacuum sewerage mains. As the air enters the main it expands, rapidly forcing the sewage into the main at high speed, breaking it up, typical transfer speeds are between 8 and 10 metres per second. Once the Vacuum Interface Valve has completed its cycle the valve and controller return to the 'at rest' position and await the sump sewage level to rise again.

WHY CHOOSE AIRVAC VALVES & THE AIRVAC VACUUM SEWERAGE SYSTEM?

Unparalelled R&D. All Airvac products benefit from the continuous support of the research and development team at Airvac in the USA, a huge, globally active company based in Rochester Indiana. Every Airvac Vacuum Sewage product is contstantly subject to a programme of test and continuous improvement which every international Airvac liscencee benefits from.

Excellent Flow Characteristics. The Airvac Vacuum Interface Valve is thought to have the best flow characteristics of any of its market competitors.

Easy to Maintain. The Airvac Vacuum Sewage Interface Valve is designed to be quickly dismantled and reassembled in-situ in the unlikely event of system blockage, a process which can be completed in seconds when connected to a live vacuum sewerage system. The Airvac Vacuum Sewage Interface Valve is designed to enable its different components to be easily removed for routine servicing and checking. The Airvac Vacuum Interface Valve does not need to be completely removed for servicing, making field repairs and servicing or component replacement comparatively easy. The ability to remove vacuum sewerage interface valve components enables the location of the controller unit above ground, reducing risk to operatives when servicing components.

HIGH QUALITY CONSTRUCTION

The Airvac Vacuum Sewage Interface Valve is build to operate in the most hostile environments, from arid deserts to waterlogged lowlands and the frozen wastes of Alaska where it operates with great success. The Valve is constructed from robust ABS, 300 series stainless steel and high quality nitrile rubber. The Valve is also subject to the most rigorous quality checking procedures during manufacture.
